Dr. Pine joined Appalachian State University after serving twenty-nine years on the faculty of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He served in a joint appointment between the Department of Environmental Sciences in the School of the Coast and Environment and the Department of Geography and Anthropology in the College of Arts and Sciences. He directed LSU’s multi-disciplinary graduate and undergraduate program in Disaster Science and Management. His research focused on risks associated with natural and human caused disasters. His book Natural Hazards Analysis was published by Taylor Francis in 2009.
