To get it right in the ongoing and increasingly urgent coverage of climate change in global media, and in policy discussions at all levels of governance, confidence in accurate and reliable atmospheric carbon datasets is essential. AppState is the proud steward, through Research Scientists Gregg Marland and Dennis Gilfillan of the RIEEE, of the oldest continuous carbon dataset on planet Earth, the Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Center (CDIAC), which dates back to 1751. CDIAC, cited here in a recent New York Times article on climate change, serves as the foundational data repository anchoring many key studies and conversations advancing our certainty in, and approaches to mitigating, anthropogenic climate change.
