RIEEE is piloting a Summer Student Scholars program in an effort to create and enhance meaningful student research experiences supported by the institute, building on the rich tradition of undergraduate research across Appalachian State. The two recipients this year are Edgar Villeda, a senior Anthropology major, and Jason Harrington, a senior Sustainable Technology major. The awards will allow Jason to participate in a Data Science Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Pilot at NCSU and Edgar to continue his study of racial disparities and injustices to the Latinx community in Eastern North Carolina. Edgar was also recently awarded the prestigious Rachel Carson Council (RCC) Fellowship.
Join us in congratulating Edgar and Jason, and read more about Edgar's RCC Fellowship here.
