The inagural RECAPP: Research & Creative Activity at Appalachian celebration was held on October 25, 2019. The event was well attended for a Friday afternoon, drawing faculty and staff from across campus to learn about and celebrate one another's work.
Several RIEEE affiliated researchers presented during the event. Dennis Gilfillan, a postdoctoral researcher in RIEEE, presented a poster representing the Appalachian Carbon Research Group. David Dickinson gave an oral presentation titled "Sleep Restriction and its Effect on Prosocial Behaviors" to share his NSF-supported research findings. Rahman Tashakkori presented a poster titled "Beemon: A Near Real Time Honey Bee Monitoring and Analysis System," work that received CONCERT funding in prior years.
Baker Perry received the inaugural Provost's Award for Excellence in Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity for his NSF- and National Geogrpahic-supported work in high elevation climate research.
