GeoHealth INTERN: Supplement Award Request to the “CAREER: The Geography of Mental Health: Understanding the Contextual, Compositional, and External Stressors”

This project establishes a climate-health internship for an Appalachian State graduate student. The internship aims to provide hands-on research experiences, mentorship, and professional development opportunities beyond the academic setting. The focus is on enhancing the student’s skills in applying geospatial knowledge to address resilience adaptation and outreach related to extreme weather conditions in North Carolina.

The student will intern with the Climate and Health Program at the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NC-DHHS), specifically working with the North Carolina Climate and Health Program. This program collaborates with local public health partners and community governments to enhance community resilience and address public health impacts through adaptation actions, training, epidemiologic analyses, and technical expertise.
